Au Revoir Peter & Joy
Peter & Joy Day joined Trinity Methodist Church in 1976. A year later Joy started our 'Mums & Tots', after a break from this activity Joy has since led it continuously for the past 15 years. Joy has also served the church as Cradle Roll Secretary, Communion Steward and with Peter as a Pastoral Visitor and performer in dramatic productions.
Peter has served the circuit as a Local Preacher, for a time being secretary of the Local Preachers' Meeting and Chair of Local Preachers Mutual Aid for the London Northeast District. Within Trinity and the circuit Peter has been a Musical Director for many productions including the big shows at the Princes Theatre and at Trinity, from 'John Wesley, Child of Fire' in 1988 onwards. He wrote some of the music for one or two - notably for 'The Gospel Mysteries'. Peter's keyboard skills have led the circuit's worship band and within Trinity his music has accompanied so many activities and we have enjoyed many impromptu concerts and music marathons. After a Sunday service many would stay to listen to and applaud a fortissimo organ triumph.
As Peter & Joy leave on 13th February to commence retirement on the island of Cyprus we pray that God's richest blessing will unfold before them. We know they will be back to visit their family in Clacton and their boat on the Broads, so we are confident that there will be more to share and for now it is only 'au revoir'.
