History Of Jaywick Methodist Church
Jaywick Methodist Church started life in 1963 in a 300-year-old cottage. The minister at that time was the Rev. Eric Gulliford.
On the 26th April 1966 the stone laying ceremony for the new church took place. The first service in the new church took place on the 11th March 1967 the minister being the Rev Edward Holme.
In the first ten years the membership increased from 7 to 59. Today the membership is 26. It is seen to be the community church for Jaywick and its main aim is for outreach in this area, with baptisms and weddings now on the increase at the church.
A wider family atmosphere is now evident in the worship on Sunday mornings. In September 2003 a Junior church will be started and the last Sunday of each month will be in the form of family worship.
