A Brief History of Trinity Methodist Church

Part Two 1932-1977

For the first 65 years of its history, Trinity was a Wesleyan Methodist Church. In 1932 Methodist Union took place uniting the Wesleyan, Primitive, United Methodists and Wesleyan Reformers. Trinity now became known as Trinity Methodist Church. There were great celebrations in the town with gatherings at Zion [formerly Clacton Primitive Methodist Church - now the Salvation Army Citadel ].

At Trinity, the Church Trustees held a Special Meeting on 4th March, 1932 to wind up the old Trust which had been created in 1912 and appoint a new Trust since several trustees had died or moved away from Clacton or wished to retire.

The minutes record that Stephen Newing, Frederick Collins, Henry Bromley, John Herbert Harmon and Alfred Randall had died and that Alfred Ebenezer Brown, George Astwood Baily, George Hole, Robert Charles Barker and Charles Henry Ingram wished to retire.
